INSIDE FAÇONNER WITH JARED WALL
A conversation with Jesse Camacho
At the pulse of fashion and music, Façonner emerges as a beacon of innovation and artistry. This rising couture brand has etched its mark on culture, stepping confidently into the spotlight in Lenny Kravitz’s electrifying music video for his latest single, “HONEY.” Directed by the visionary Diana Kunst and styled impeccably by Rodney Burns, the video’s centerpiece is a custom leopard-print chiffon creation—a garment that channels Kravitz’s legendary rock-and-roll spirit while heralding Façonner’s daring aesthetic.
“It’s a profound honor to be part of Lenny’s music video,” shared Jared Wall, the creative force behind Façonner. “His unwavering support and creative partnership mean the world to me. Contributing to his artistry is a privilege I deeply cherish.”
The collaboration is more than a sartorial triumph; it is a dialogue between two powerful artistic forces. The leopard-print design, both luxurious and untamed, mirrors Kravitz’s fearless persona while showcasing Façonner’s ethos of blending classic refinement with contemporary audacity. This moment underscores the enduring union of music and fashion—an alchemy that elevates both forms of expression.
As the brand continues to shape conversations around creativity and identity, its founder and creative director, Jared Wall, stands at the helm—blending artistry with ambition.
The following interview delves deeper into the philosophy behind Façonner, Jared’s creative journey, and his vision for the future of fashion.
Can you share your journey to founding Façonner? What pivotal moments have shaped your vision?
“I was initially intimidated by sewing and the complexities of running a business. Learning to sew transformed everything,” Wall recalls. “Façonner officially came to life on January 26, 2024, with my debut collection, ‘Women in the Workplace,’ a celebration of women’s contributions through vintage-inspired silhouettes. Moving to Los Angeles was pivotal; it opened doors I never imagined possible.”
From Sacramento to LA, Wall’s evolution speaks to the resilience and vision required to redefine the boundaries of modern fashion. His story mirrors that of countless designers who have dared to dream big, transforming challenges into opportunities and inspirations into reality.
Your collaboration with Lenny Kravitz in the “HONEY” music video highlights the intersection of fashion and music. How do you see this relationship evolving in today’s culture, especially among younger audiences?
“Fashion and music have always shared a profound connection, and today, they’re more entwined than ever,” Wall observes. “Artists use fashion to articulate their identities, and Lenny Kravitz epitomizes this synergy. Social media has amplified this dialogue, making visual storytelling accessible and impactful for younger audiences. Personally, it’s been instrumental in propelling my journey as an emerging designer.”
As platforms like Instagram and TikTok redefine cultural touchstones, Façonner resonates deeply with a generation eager for authenticity and individuality. In this digital era, where identity is often shaped by shared visuals, Façonner’s bold designs find an audience hungry for something distinctive and meaningful.
The custom piece designed for Lenny features a striking leopard print chiffon. Can you share your inspiration for this design and how you ensured it resonated with Lenny’s artistic vision?
“The silhouette draws from my debut collection showcased in downtown LA,” Wall reveals. “When collaborating with Rodney Burns, Lenny’s stylist, we instantly knew this style was the perfect choice. The leopard print exudes a sense of opulence and untamed spirit, perfectly complementing Lenny’s fearless persona.” Featuring a dramatic draped body, a pleated neckline, and an alluring backless construction, the piece became transcendent on Kravitz, embodying a harmony of classic refinement and contemporary boldness. The garment isn’t just clothing; it’s a visual narrative, reflecting the audacious spirit of both its designer and wearer.
Façonner is known for its unique and elegant silhouettes that empower personal expression. How do you cultivate this ethos in your designs?
“I find inspiration in both contemporary and historical fashion, with Yves Saint Laurent being a perennial muse,” Wall says. “I aim to reimagine silhouettes that challenge gender norms and societal conventions. My hope is that every Façonner client feels both confident and elegant.”
By blending the elegance of the past with the daring edge of the present, Wall crafts pieces that resonate across generations, speaking to a universal desire for authenticity and individuality.
Lenny Kravitz has supported Façonner at various prominent events. What does his endorsement mean for you and the brand’s growth in the competitive fashion landscape?
“Working with Lenny and Rodney Burns has been transformative,” Wall shares. “Their belief in my designs has elevated my platform and expanded my horizons. In an industry defined by its relentless pace, these moments reaffirm the power of collaboration and connection.”
Such endorsements are rare but invaluable, often serving as catalysts for young brands seeking to establish themselves in a competitive landscape.
With your upcoming capsule collection, how is Façonner integrating sustainable practices into its ethos, and why is this important for your brand?
“Sustainability is non-negotiable,” Wall emphasizes. “I prioritize transparent manufacturing, recycled fabrics, and domestic production. Upholding environmental, animal, and human rights is essential for the longevity of any meaningful brand.”
This ethos positions Façonner at the forefront of a movement redefining luxury in the age of responsibility. For Wall, sustainability isn’t a trend; it’s a core value that shapes every decision, from sourcing materials to crafting final designs.
In a fast-paced fashion industry often driven by trends, how do you ensure that Façonner remains authentic while appealing to a generation valuing individuality?
“Staying updated on trends is important, but I focus on creating pieces I’d want as a customer. Uniqueness fosters creativity and self-expression. Craftsmanship and silhouette are paramount; shape always attracts attention.”
In a sea of fast fashion, Façonner stands out by celebrating authenticity. Each piece tells a story, inviting wearers to embrace their unique narrative.
What are your aspirations for Façonner within the next few years?
“Once I graduate, my focus will shift entirely to Façonner, with plans to expand seasonal collections and delve deeper into custom designs. I’m eager to explore new horizons, continuously pushing creative boundaries,” Wall concludes.
